Solar power energy is used for a lot of things at the moment that people are not even aware of. Solar panels, in their current format, were actually invented in order to power satellites in space. These are the same design of panels that are used to power solar calculators.

Finding a source of power in space proved to be tricky as batteries are too heavy to get up there. Therefore the obvious option was to use the energy of the sun, which is readily available and free. These satellites produce the signals for our TV, Internet and mobile phones and the fact that these signals are so consistently good, proves how effective the energy from the sun can be.

There are also solar panels being used on space stations in order to provide enough power to keep an oxygen supply, lighting, heating and power for the equipment in them. Solar power has been used for a great deal of unusual and unexpected things. There is a solar power car race each year in the desert and there has even been a solar plane invented, which managed to fly across the channel.

There are even solar powered yachts. These innovative designs show how great the scope is for this energy source. If only people would show a greater demand for it, then there may be more products like this readily available for us all to use.

Obviously these projects were very expensive to set up and it is that sort of money that needs to be invested into solar energy stations in order to start supplying parts of the world with solar energy. Hopefully the fact that there are many solar power stations that are planned to be built very soon means that people will start to begin to see what a valuable resource solar power is. Also as there are more solar power stations built, the technology will improve and it should also get cheaper and so more people will be able to afford to invest in them and to help to provide the renewable resource that the world needs.

Quick Tip #1

Solar energy is best for countries that get a lot of sunlight. It can be a great source of electricity and help add to the current supply, providing a cheaper and renewable source that causes no pollution.

Quick Tip #2

In India it is possible for the country to be able to produce more energy from the sun than they would ever use. This is because they receive a huge amount of sunlight and their population is not massively in demand of electricity.
